A tiny Quebec town of just 2,000 people has become the first municipality in Canada to officially declare trees “sentient beings” with fundamental rights.
Terrasse-Vaudreuil signed the “Universal Declaration of Tree Rights,” treating trees as moral subjects that demand fraternity, solidarity, and legal protections, while ordinary Canadians face expanding MAID, housing crises, speech restrictions, and more.
