The Ford government is rolling out digital IDs in Ontario, starting with the Photo Card and expanding to driver’s licences and health cards.
This is being sold as convenient, secure, and cost-effective, but in reality this is the foundation of a broader surveillance system.
In this video Dan Dicks of Press For Truth examines the risks: dependence on phones, exclusion of seniors and rural residents, the history of “optional” systems becoming mandatory and the potential for digital IDs to later link to banking, travel, medical records, and more.
Dan also questions the promised 2027 legislation protecting paper IDs and the long-term implications once centralized digital identity infrastructure is in place.
