An internal B.C. document reveals David Eby’s NDP government is advancing the largest public land transfer in modern Canadian history, including iconic landmarks and downtown Victoria real estate.
Commitments already exceed 334,000 acres, with potential deals reaching millions of hectares (roughly 10% of the province).
Hatley Castle and multi-million-dollar downtown parking lots near the Legislature are among the parcels headed to the Songhees Nation as treaty lands.
Once transferred, public access may be limited or eliminated, and local bylaws no longer apply.
