Student opens new eatery in his Columbia University dorm

A new eatery, Pith, located in a Columbia University dorm is quickly gaining popularity. The creator of the establishment, Jonah Reider, set-up the dining experience which serves only four people at a time. The experience consist of five to eight-course meals and ranges from $10 to $20 per person. All of the meals are prepared within the University dorm's common kitchen.

So far, the eatery has managed to obtain a five-star rating on Yelp!, and it has been taking reservations and their list continues to grow, they are booked solid through to next year. Reider says that he began cooking just for friends and his own classmates, before long word had spread and others from outside of school wanted to try a taste of his intricate menus. Reider is an economics major and has said that he didn't expect that his idea and service would become so popular.

At least four nights a week, Reider serves a myriad of diners in the common kitchen in his suite that is located in Hogan Hall. He shares his dining space with three roommates, and he has said that his roommates are accepting and supportive of his entrepreneurial and culinary efforts. “My roommates are chill with it,” says Reider.

Some of the recent dishes served include red kale stalks, a spread of artisan cheeses, lamb chops with smoked paprika, and barely with figs. So far, Reider claims that he doesn't turn a profit, and that the University hasn't interfered with his culinary service.
